For the 4th time in history, the House voted today to initiate an impeachment procedure against a President. During the last days, at least 3 former members of the Trump’s administration have declined to declare on the committee responsible for the inquiry. Nancy Pelosi led what is now one of the most tense moments since the President took over the White House.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW?

THE RESOLUTION

The House passed a resolution that will set the rules for the public stage of this investigation that even though it is focused on the “Ukraine Scandal” it might lead to more information like the President’s taxes or “interesting” information regarding “unclear” relations with Saudi Arabia and Russia.

Now all the subpoenas will be “mandatory” and as this gets confirmed, most of the incoming declarations are already hiring lawyers. Apart from today’s scenario: How will John Bolton avoid declaring under oath? Does he want to lie to his country?

THE VOTES

Only two Democrats decided to vote with the GOP members of the House: Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey and Collin Peterson of Minnesota. Why? Both of them believe that this should have been a bipartisan decision and not the decision of the Democratic party itself.

Yes: 232 – No: 196 – No Vote: 4

WHAT IS NEXT?

1 – Today, former White House counsel Don McGahn’s situation will be decided as well as Kupperman who also refused to appear in front of the committee (Kupperman Refuses To Testify). At the same time, Democrats will put more pressure on Trump announcing subpoenas.

2 – GOP Senators met with President Trump at the White House. At the moment, nothing has been disclosed but according to most of the ones that attended “the President did not say anything he didn’t say in public. Sources of this platform in Washington say that the “Bolton Factor” could be a very big problem for Trump.

3 – In a clear statement, Democrats believe they have the necessary elements to put pressure over the Senate with the feelings of the public opinion. Slowly, it is shifting to understand that the President did something wrong. Will this complicate hard-line GOP Senators?
