Gigantic asteroid Apophis is moving towards the Earth and a lot of panicking has sparked around the globe. The chances of this enormous rock to hit the planet are getting higher as many Space Institutions already warned for 2068. Is the International Community doing something? Should the people leave this to private ventures?
WHAT DO WE KNOW?
In the past we published a latest report on Apophis (Consequences of Apophis hitting the Earth) .Now this rock is becoming more and more “popular” all over the world as apparently (even though Nasa is not ready to admit this) it might be on course to a direct impact to the Earth by 2068. The Asteroid will “fly” by the Blue Planet before in 2029. Can this next path affect communications? Is 2029 the perfect time to “try” to change its course? Maybe.
MUSK SAYS
After many reports saying the “God of Chaos” as the Asteorid is known might be preparing to hit the Earth, SpaceX founder pointed directly to the US Department and maybe to the International Community.
The Asteroid is 370 meter wide and as for now it does not looks as a concern for NASA. The next time we might be able to actually see Apophis is exactly next April 13th of 2029. If it actually hits … the force of this Giant Rock is equal to 15,000 nukes detonating at once …
While NASA says there is a very small chance Apophis will hit the Earth (1 in 100K) the Federal Agency is working together with SpaceX in order to develop the DART project that looks forward to develop systems to “destroy” or “change the trajectory” of this kind of Asteroids (DART project : Can this work?) . Maybe Musk is again, just using his intelligence to get more funding for space ventures. The Moon, Mars, Asteroids … What is next? What do you think?
